Abstract: There are three major types of petroliferous basins developed in China. They are the Paleozoic cratonic basin, the east?central Meso?Cenozoic fault basin and the western Meso?Cenozoic foreland basin, about 85% of domestic oil and gas resources are controlled by them, and the oil and gas fields discovered up to now are mainly distributed in them. This paper summarizes the oil and gas distribution regularities in the three major types of basins through several years of researches and practices for the purpose of playing a certain role in guiding the current and future China’s oil and gas exploration
