  • About Journal

    Xinjiang Petroleum Geology was founded in 1980 and has a history of more than 40 years. It is currently sponsored by the Xinjiang Petroleum Administration Co., Ltd. The journal maintains extensive communication and collaboration with petroleum systems and research institutes across China. It primarily reports research results on the exploration and development of oil and gas-bearing basins in China and abroad, and also presents studies from Chinese research institutes and universities on petroleum geology and engineering geology.

     

    History

    Xinjiang Petroleum Geology was founded in 1980 and was first publicly distributed in China in 1982, with the postal distribution code 58-46, as a quarterly publication. In 1988, it obtained the China Standard Serial Number CN65-1107/P and the International Standard Serial Number ISSN 1001-3873, with the foreign distribution code BM 4426. In 1991, its China Standard Serial Number was changed to CN65-1107/TE. Since 1998, the journal’s frequency has changed from quarterly to bimonthly.

     

    Aim and Scope

    The journal fully reports research achievements in petroleum geology, continuously enriching China’s theoretical knowledge in this field. It promotes advanced theories and technologies in oil and gas exploration and development to serve the nation’s petroleum industry. The journal is committed to discovering and supporting young talents, providing them a platform to reach new levels in science and technology. It endeavors to serve its readers and authors, meet all reasonable demands, uphold quality and innovation as its priorities, encourages exchange of diverse academic views, and opposes all forms of academic misconduct.

     

    Target Readers

    The journal’s target readers are researchers engaged in theoretical work in oil and gas exploration and development, engineering and technical personnel, as well as scientific and management staff.

    Abstracting and Indexing

    The journal is indexed in Chemical Abstracts (CA), AJ (Abstract Journal, Russia), China Petroleum Abstracts, and Chinese Academic Journal Abstracts. It was included in the China Academic Journals (CD Edition) in 1997, joined the CNKI Science & Technology Journal database in 2003, and has been continuously listed in the Chinese Core Journals Catalogue (Peking University) in 2004, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2017, 2020 and 2023.

     

    Circulation

    In 2021, Xinjiang Petroleum Geology had a circulation of 3,000 copies per issue. The journal is distributed to more than 20 countries and regions, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, as well as the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and others. The journal serves 3,237 institutional subscribers.
