  • Regulations on Retraction

The Editorial Office of Xinjiang Petroleum Geology has established the following regulations regarding author-initiated retraction and editorial retraction based on specific circumstances:

    1. Author-Initiated Retraction

    (1) If an author wishes to retract a manuscript after successful submission through the online submission system due to personal reasons, they must provide an explanation to the editorial office.

    (2) If the manuscript has already passed the review process and the author requests a retraction, the author must complete an “Author Retraction Request Form.”

    (3) For manuscripts that have already entered the editorial and typesetting process, if the retraction is due to the author’s reasons, the author must not only complete a detailed “Author Retraction Request Form” but also compensate the editorial office for costs incurred from review, editing, and typesetting.

    (4) Authors who retract manuscripts for personal reasons twice will have their submissions as first or corresponding author rejected for one year.

    2. Editorial Retraction

    (1) After a manuscript is accepted, if the editorial office discovers evidence of academic misconduct, it will communicate with the author and submit relevant materials to the editorial board to make a retraction decision.

    (2) If the manuscript has not been formally published, the editorial office will retract it and complete an “Editorial Retraction Statement.”

    (3) If the manuscript has been formally published, the editorial office will publish a “Retraction Notice” on the Xinjiang Petroleum Geology website and in the latest issue of the journal, and will send the notice to relevant database indexing organizations to withdraw all associated manuscript data.

    (4) For first or corresponding authors involved in manuscripts found to contain academic misconduct, the editorial office will reject any submissions bearing their name for three years.
