Abstract: Fluorescence characteristics of vitrinite in typical Jurassic coal sample in Turpan-Hami basin and its peripheral basin have been quantitatively analyzed and tested by appiying the technique of laser fluorescence microprobe. Results showed that rich hy-drogen exists in vitrinite of Jurassic coal in Turpan-Hami basin, with the hydrogen index up to 180~ 200 mg/(g·TOC), and heavy hydrocarbon content from vitrinite up to 20% ~ 40%, indicating that such source rock has had hydrocarbon-generated potential.
