Abstract: On the basis of continuous wavelet transform of seismic signals, this paper describes the energy attenuation abnormal phenomena caused by seismic wave propagation in gaseous high?quality shales using multi?scale absorption attributes, by which the new shale gas identification approach is presented and verified by theoretical analysis and model experiment in terms of scientificity and effectiveness. The case study of the shale gas identification of Qiongzhusi formation in Jingyan?Qianwei area shows that the applied result is closed to the real drilling data
