Abstract: Sinian system is well exposed in the area of Kuluketage with study being most detailed. Recently, bitumen and narrow bitumen veins with net shape are found in algae dolomite geodes and fissures of the Yardang mountain. Relative thick exposure of the Sinian system appears in the Tiekeli fault-lift and around the Xinzang highway of the southwestern Platform. The Upper Sinian is deep water terbidite rich of algae and favoirable for oil and gas generation. Sinian deposit on the Akesu uplift is continuous and can be correlated to the Kuiuketage. Study of distribution characteristics and palaeogeography by integration of drilling exploration and seismic sections is beneficial to gain a deep insight into evolution history and oil/gas generation of the Basin.
