Abstract: During Mesozoic,Tarim Basin is a huge petroliferous basin which is characterized by the superimposed sedimentary bodies formed through multiple tectonic phases and basining epoches. The Mesozoic can be vertically divided Into four basining epoches(P.-T, J,K, and K2+1) bounded by tectomc phases, and 10 prototype basins formed. These tosins can be classified into four species (foreland basin .down-warped basin, graben basin and sttike-slip basin) based on boundary conditions for the basin formation at each basining epoch stress field features. Depending on their superimposed positions and patterns, they can also be classified into four superimposed types (multi-superimposed .cross-superimposed, overlap-superimposed and mosaic-superimposed). In Tarim Basin, abundant source beds exist in the Mesozoic and Paleoxoic. With, substancial hydrocarbon traps being developed. Oil generated in the Paleozoic and accumulated in the Mesozoic is the most important style for hydrocarbon accumulation.
