Abstract: This paper briefly described the basement feature, caprock characteristics, structure and sedimentology of Kashi depression, and suggested that there are well-deve-loped local structure, rich seepage and active oil (gas) show in the exploratory well.and better source-reservoir-caprock association,in which Jurassic is main source bed, followed: by Upper Cretaceous-Paleogene; Kuzigongsu formation (Upper Jurassic), Kezilesu group sand conglomerate (Lower Cretaceous) and carbonate rock (Paleogene) as main reser-voirs; mudstone and gypsiferous mudstone (Upper Cretaceous-Paleocene and Miocene) as main caprocks.Jurassic authigenic reservoir,“down-sourced”reservoir (Yangye formation of Middle Jurassic is source rock, and Cretaceous reservoir).as well as primary and secondary oil/gas reservoirs (Teriary is source rock) can be found in Kashi depression.
