Abstract: The feature of natural gas in Mahai gas field that was less studied before is integrated with fluid inclusion test results, the burial history and thermal evolution history of source rocks as well as structural development history in this paper. It is indicated that two stages of oil-gas fillings are found in Mahai structure. Oil at the first stage ended in dispersal for poor preservation; at the second stage Mahai structure only captured the highly evolutionary gas from Yibei sag. Gas from Mahai gas field and Nanbaxian field belongs to the same genetic type, but the latter is high-and over-mature coal-formed gas related with Lower Jurassic source rocks in Yibei sag.
