ORIGIN OF HYDROCARBONS AND ITS EXPLORATION IN CAINAN OILFIELD

Abstract

Abstract: The geochemical analysis and study show that gas from Cainan oilfield is coal-type associated gas, in which gas from Well Cai17 (Badaowan Formation) is possibly coal bed gas and oil generated from coal. The Middle-Lower Jurassic coal measures in Fukang sag are the main source rock. The slope zone in Fukang sag is advantageous area for 011 and gas prospecting. The coal seams in the Middle-Lower Jurassic are advantageous sequences for coalbed gas prospecting.
