Abstract: Tarim Basin involvcs four (4)evolutonary stages and consists of six(6) prototype basins,aooording to Pof,Zhu Xig's theory of double classification of petroliferous basins.The bssin was formed by horizontal combination, vertica' superimposition and reconstruction of the prototype basins, Based on the available data,the basin can be di-vided into nine(9)first--order and seventcen(17) socond—order tcctonic unis,lt is concluded that Manjar is the mast favorable souroe arca where multd—prolotype basins and dcep deptcsjons are superimpased and the hinge belts of these prolotype basins are the mast probable places where optimun sourC一reservoir—cap combinations can be found.
