Abstract: Data from organic petrographic micrascopic identification and SEM indicated that multiple source rocks exist in northwestern margin of Junggar basin. Amorphous Dasses are enriched in maceral of Later Permian Fengcheng Formation shales, with high oil-geherating potential. The organic components of Upper Prmian Wuethe Formation and Lower Carboniferous hydrocarbon source rocks are dominated by ll-towards-sapropel type organic matets, whereas Lower Permian Jiamuhe Formation shales are sapropel-prone source rock.
