Abstract: Seismic reflection characteristics of volcanic rocks in Junggar basin are divided into three categories (strong, wcak , no) based on exploratory well data, which correlate with their geologic ages approximately. Considering reflcction characteristics and patterns of volcanic events, it is suggested that Well Shinan I is located in the vicinity of crater, lateral volcanic eruptions result in completeness of volcanic cone shapes, and volcanic rocks are present in large number within Shinan Depressian, which is overlain by Upper Permian Wuerhe Formation and Middle-Upper Triasic. Within basement of Hercynian folding zone in Junggar basin, intermediate-basic effusive rocks and intrusive rocks are abundantly distributed, seismic reflection of sedimentary rocks commonly exists in a smal area, which is seismic tesponse of the Devonian-Carboniferous in relatively stable section of the basemen.
