Abstract: The Fengcheng formation of Permian in Wellblock Xia-72 in Northwestern margin of Junggar basin composes of rhyolitic clinkering breccia tuff with good petrophysical property and high productivity, and is a favorable area for deep oil-gas exploration. This paper analyzes the controlling factors for the volcanic eruption pattern and distribution of this reservoir. It is suggested that the fissure volcanic eruption is its main eruption pattern, and the distribution is mainly controlled by the crater and the paleogeomorphology. The result provides the basis for exploration of such a reservoir.

Key words: Junggar basin, northwestern margin, Permian, volcanic eruption pattern, paleogeomorphology
