Abstract: Five sequences were classfied in Mesozoic-Cenozoic in Junggar basin based on first-order lake level fluctuation. The favourable reservoirs include lowstand system tract, transgression system tract and slope break margin system tract, highstand system tract is both possible source bed and regional caprock.Lithological trap may be developed during second-order lake level fluctuation. This paper primarily discussed favourable reservoir facies beltvS in northwest margin in Junggar basin based on study of the lake level fluctuation and sequence stratigraphy.
