Abstract: Suberinite occurs commonly in Jurassic coals and terrestrial organic source rocks of Xinjiang, which is formed from suberized cell walls, particularly in plant perid-erm.The proportion of suberinite in organic macerals is generallyless than 2% if only suberized cell walls are counted, and reached up to about 20% if both suberized cell walls and corpocollinite which are contained within the cork cells are counted. At R.=0.35%~0.70%,significant optical change of suberinite is demonstrated, but its changes in mor-phology and content are insignificant. Those phenomena reflected that the suberin and wax fractions in suberized cell walls were obviously lost in low mature stage, and lignified cellulose and cellulose fractions as skeleton of cell walls show indistinct changes.Suberi-nite is progressively evolved to telinite or telocollinite in optical properties during ther mal maturation. At Rup to 0.90%,suberinite is impossibly to be identified.suberinite ex-hibits early thermal degradation to generate hydrocarbon, but suberinite is insubstantial Oil-generated macerals because the content of suberinite in organic matters is relatively low in Jurassic source rocks of Xinjiang.
