Abstract: Through comprehensive analysis of geological data from Xinzhuang oilfield and the studies made in about two years of exploration and development practices, the paper sums up the basic characteristics of imbricated oil- pools are as follows: namely, the occurrence of such pay zones shows as roof-like relation with fault in section and imbricate overlapping in plane view, such oil-pools distribute as narrow stripes along the trend of faults, such pay zones often distribute at high position below the fault point of major fault, and, under such pay zones, there always occurs a set of continuously appearing oil-gas-show sections. The paper proved the imbricated oil-pools are the general occurrence in Xinzhuang oilfield, indicated their rolling exploration and development potentials, and prospecting direction. Meanwhile, combined with such oil-pools features accompanying technical problems to be solved are discussed.
