Abstract: This paper presents the principal characteristics of faults in various assemblages. Through the numerical simulation of faulting stress field , the stresses and their effects of forming fracture systems are summarized, pointing out generally regular Patterns for developed fractured near the faults. Finally, some reference suggestions for evaluation of fractured reservoir and reasonable location of wells to explore oil—bearing fractured reservoirs are presented in this paper.
